Tamlyn Tomita was born in Japan on 27 January 1966. She played Ralph Macchio's love interest in The Karate Kid Part II. In 1984, she won Queen's title at the Nisei Week Pageant in Los Angeles and was named Miss Nikkei International in 1985 before becoming an actress. In 1987 she released a Japanese music album featuring a label named Polydor.
