Satoshi Tajiri is best known for being a game designer. Creator of Pokemon who created GameFreak, Inc., a video game company. His video games, Pokemon Red, Green , and Blue, later became a successful animated series and a movie franchise. He was born in Tokyo , Japan, on August 28, 1965. Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind the Super Mario and the Legend of the Zelda Games, also contributed to the development of Pokemon. Late in his childhood, he became interested in arcade games and started playing them instead of going to school. A passion for catching insects was combined with his love of video games, creating the basis for Pokemon.

  • Tajiri cites Shigeru Miyamoto as a major influence, thinking of him as a kind of mentor. For this reason, his evolutionary style closely matches that of Miyamoto. In the Pokemon anime, the main character is called Satoshi, and his opponent is Shigeru. Tajiri took much of his inspiration from old Japanese shows and animes, including Godzilla and Ultraman. He said that if he didn’t design video games, he ‘d most likely be in the anime sector.
