Randee Heller is best known as an American Television and Film Actress. Heller was born in Brooklyn, New York City and grew up in West Hempstead, New York, Long Island, Russian heritage. After briefly attending Emerson College in Boston, she returned to Long Island and graduated from Adelphi University in 1969, where she studied Theater. American Television and Film Actress known for playing Alice in the 1970s Sitcom Soap–one of the first lesbian characters on television–as well as for playing Lucille LaRusso, the mother of Ralph Macchio's starring character, in The Karate Kid and The Karate Kid Part III, and in the Cobra Kai streaming series; and Bert Cooper's and Don Draper's. She was part of the Off-Broadway production of Godspell in the summer after graduation. She went to the Grease Broadway musicals to play Rizzo. In 1978, Heller moved from New York to California to work on film.

Film Career

Heller would appear as a lesbian character in the 2010 episode of Grey 's Anatomy “Almost Grown,” playing the girlfriend of a female brain tumor patient. Upon leaving Soap, the actress took on the part of Lucille LaRusso, mother of Ralph Macchio's starring character, in the Karate Kid movie series, appearing in the first and third episodes, earning strong notice from the critics. The critic Gene Siskel of the Chicago Tribune noted her absence from the second film: “Heller's frank depiction of a single parent struggling to raise a child was one of the great pleasures of the first film.”

Stage Career

Heller performed in stage plays such as Bermuda Avenue Triangle, The Tale of the Allergist 's Daughter, and Cabaret. Heller also played the part of Barbra Streisand 's mother at Streisand 's Timeless concerts in 2000. Despite having been diagnosed with breast cancer the year before, she underwent double mastectomy and chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
