Brimble attended Bristol Grammar School. He played Miranda in a school production of The Tempest. His father managed the French high-wire act, the White Devils, over many summers. The Brimble family traveled with him when he toured Britain. In July 1961, he arranged a blindfolded high-wire crossing of the Cheddar Gorge. His parents gave him a season ticket to the Bristol Old Vic where he saw every performance from the age of 11 before he went to university at 18. Brimble studied Philosophy & English Literature at the University of Sussex from 1962 to 1966. He graduated with an MA & went on to teach English & Drama at the University of Baghdad.

Nick Brimble Professional Career

1968 Brimble became the Youth Theater Organiser at the Marlowe Theater in Canterbury. He administered the company Connection (Theater in Education) which toured the schools in Kent. At the same time, he appeared in small parts for the main Marlowe Theater Company. In 1970 Brimble and other members of the TIE company founded the independent company Actors’ Circus. The first production was Waiting for Godot at the University of Kent’s Gulbenkian Theater, where Brimble played Vladimir. Brimble then worked at the Hull Arts Center in Richard III with Bob Hoskins, the London Theater Group in Macbeth with Steven Berkoff, the Palace Theatre, Watford, and played a small part as a villager in the 1971 Hammer movie Lust for a Vampire. Between 1971 to 1973 Brimble worked at the Northcott Theater Repertoire Company in Exeter. He has appeared in the Caucasian Chalk Circle, Julius Caesar, The Tempest, Loot, Guys and Dolls, and several other works. He was playing Jesus in The Cornish Passion Play.
