Melissa Reese Early & Personal Life
Reese was born in Seattle , Washington, D.C. She is the youngest of three girls born into a Chinese, English , Spanish, Japanese, Filipino, Irish , Scottish and Danish descent household. She started writing piano music at age 12. She was discovered at 13 by musician Tom Whitlock, who helped her enter the music industry. She learned Pro Tools, Reason, and Logic Pro when she was 17 and began performing and producing her own music. She attended Roosevelt High School, where she sang in the ensemble. Reese won an outstanding solo award at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in high school. After graduating from school, Reese began experimenting with recording, creating a module featuring a Boss BR-8 and Roland Groovebox. In her early 20s, she moved to Los Angeles to study full-time music.
