Larry King undergoes angioplasty after chest pain complaints, now ‘recovering’ in hospital
Longtime talk show host and former CNN interviewer Larry King is recovering from chest pain, medically known as angina, in a statement Ora TV said.
He was scheduled for an angioplasty but visited the hospital early last Thursday to be checked for chest pain, the statement said.
“His doctor successfully performed angioplasty, inserting stents to reopen the 1987 bypass,” the statement said. “He’s recovered in the hospital and is scheduled to be released soon. His doctors expect him to make a full recovery.” Ora TV, an on-demand digital TV network, said King’s doctors say he didn’t have a heart attack and didn’t go into cardiac arrest.
“Larry is in good spirits and thanks to everyone for their concern. He’s expected to return early to work on his shows, ‘Larry King Now‘ and ‘PoliticKING with Larry King,'” said the post.
King, 85, had several heart attacks and quintupled bypass surgery in 1987. He created the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting those who do not have health insurance to access medical treatment.
