Elizabeth Woolridge Grant (born June 21, 1985), known as Lana Del Rey, is an American singer-songwriter. Her music is known for its stylised, cinematic quality; themes of sadness, tragic romance, glamour, and melancholy; and references to pop culture, notably Americana in the 1950s and 1960s.
As of 2020, Del Rey sold 19.1 million albums and more than 13 million singles worldwide, with a combined view of 4.1 billion on its YouTube and Vevo pages. She has received two Brit Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, a Satellite Award, nine GAFFA Awards, six Grammy Award nominations, and a Golden Globe nomination.

Lana Del Rey Career
Born in New York City, raised in New York City, Del Rey returned to New York City in 2005 to start her music career. Following numerous projects, including her self-titled debut album, Del Rey's breakthrough came in 2011 with the viral success of her debut single “Video Games” She signed that year with Interscope and Polydor. Her major label debut, Born to Die (2012), was an international success and spawned on the Billboard Hot 100 a top-ten single, “Summertime Sadness” as well as the singles “Blue Jeans” and “Born to Die” which charted in several overseas territories. Del Rey released EP Paradise in 2012. Next year, Del Rey ventured into filming, writing and starring in the short music film Tropico; releasing “Young and Beautiful” as the lead single for the romantic drama film The Great Gatsby (2013).
Del Rey released her third album, Ultraviolence, for critical success. It overtook charts and spawned “West Coast” Del Rey recorded the eponymous theme for the drama film Big Eyes that won a Golden Globe nomination that year. She released Honeymoon albums in 2015 and Lust for Life albums in 2017, the latter topped the US Billboard 200. Her sixth album, Norman Rockwell! (2019), received widespread critical acclaim and two Grammy nominations, including Year's Album. Del Rey released singles “Doin' Time” and “Don't Call Me Angel” in 2019, the latter being a collaboration with Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus for Charlie's Angels (2019) soundtrack. Del Rey rebuilt her first poetry collection, Violet Bent Backwards over the Grass as well as an accompanying word album in 2020.
