  • In 1996, Mathers was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. On the advice of his doctor, Mathers enrolled in a weight loss program with Jenny Craig in May 1997 and lost more than 40 lb (18 kg). He also became the first male spokesperson for Jenny Craig. He also portrayed the Type 2 Diabetes Reverse Publishing Program in a TV commercial.
