Biography
Devendra Banhart is a Venezuelan American singer-songwriter and visual artist. Banhart was born in Houston, Texas, and raised in Venezuela by his mother until a teenager moved to California. He started studying at San Francisco Art Institute in 1998 but dropped out to play music in Italy, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Banhart released his debut album in 2002, releasing his music on the Young God and XL labels as well as other compilations and collaborations.
