Dave Baksh Biography
David Nizam Baksh (born July 26, 1980), also known as Dave Brownsound, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter and record producer, best known as one of Sum 41 rock band guitarists. Baksh took a nine-year hiatus (except for a brief return in 2008) from Sum 41 in May 2006, returning in 2015. He became a singer and guitarist in his own Brown Brigade heavy metal / reggae band. He also plays organ thieves guitar with two of his fellow Brown Brigade members and four-piece Canadian deathpunk Black Cat Assault. In 1997, Baksh joined Sum 41 as third member, after Deryck Whibley and Steve Jocz founded the band in the summer of 1996. Besides being the lead guitarist, Baksh also provided backup vocals. Baksh was named Pleasure in alter-ego band Sum 41, Pain for Pleasure. Also known as Dave Brownsound and “Hot Chocolate,” Baksh plays off his Indian roots and brown sound, the term Eddie Van Halen coined for his own guitar tone.
