Miss Teen USA 1996
- Woods captured the Miss Houston Teen USA title in 1995, then appeared in Miss Texas Teen USA in 1996, retaining the crown. She presented Texas in the 1996 Miss Teen USA pageant televised live from Las Cruces, New Mexico in August 1996 and became the first woman in her state to win the Miss Teen USA crown.
- As Miss Teen USA, her sister title holders were Alicia Machado, Miss Universe 1996, Venezuela, and Ali Landry, Miss USA 1996, Louisiana.
- She also competed alongside Brook Lee, who briefly retained Miss USA in 1997 before winning Miss Universe in 1997; and Miss Teen USA in 1989 and 1st runner-up to Miss USA in 1997, Brandi Sherwood, who replaced Lee as Miss USA.
- During her reign, Woods traveled widely throughout the United States and made charitable appearances, giving up her title in August 1997, when she declared Shelly Moore of Tennessee as Miss Teen USA in her home state of Texas in 1997.
Miss Texas USA 2000
- In 2001, Woods returned to pageantry and competed for Miss Texas USA in 2002 as Miss Central Texas. She was one of six former Miss Texas Teen USA title holders to take part in the event. Woods won the swimsuit, interview, and Miss Photogenic awards, but just the third runner-up. This was the first time that a former Miss Teen USA title holder did not win a Miss USA State pageant in their first attempt. Woods’ successor to the Miss Texas Teen USA crown, Andria Mullins, also lost and put the second runner-up to the eventual winner, Miss Dallas Fort Worth, Kasi Kelly, who was not a former Miss Texas Teen USA.
Miss Texas USA 2003
- The next year, Woods challenged and earned the Miss Houston USA title, gained the right to compete in Miss Texas USA in 2003 and again failed to win the crown, only putting it as one of the semi-finalists alongside Mullins, who also participated but was not crowned either. This time Woods ‘predecessor to Miss Texas Teen USA title, Mandy Jeffreys, matched Woods’ 2002 ranking as the third runner-up, only to lose Nicole O’Brian, Miss Texas Teen USA 2000, who could not win Miss Teen USA 2000 or Miss USA 2003 crowns.
Miss Texas USA 2004
- Woods played for the third time in Miss Texas USA in 2004 and was just in the semi-finals again. This was her last attempt at the title, due to age limits put on contestants.
- Woods will be the shifting times where none of the former Miss Teen USA title holders will retain the Miss USA state crown. Jamie Solinger of Iowa (3rd runner-up to Mrs. America 2005) and Shauna Gambill of California (first runner-up to Miss USA 1998 and Top 10 to Miss World 1998) will be the last in 1998.
